I went to GP asking for a large abscess on my back to be lanced. He said not ready and that it needed antibiotics for two weeks. 2 weeks later I went asking for it to be lanced as it was very painful. He said it wasn't ready. I went on holiday and suffered a lot of pain. Came back after a week and went again asking for treatment. He said he would refer for urgent incision and drainage. I contacted to hospital on 2 days later to ask for appointment. They said that referral not received but anyway consultant wouldn't see it til the following week at least. I phoned yesterday to be told it was a routine request and wasn't going to be seen until next week. I've attended my surgery again who tell me that the hospital downgraded the urgency to routine and will ask my GP To phone me tomorrow.
This abscess is huge and very painful and only needs a routine procedure. It seems impossible to get action! The surgeon secretary is on holiday til next week. Am considering flying to Italy and having done there- it may be faster
