What I liked

I was admitted for day surgery on a Saturday - very convenient for someone self-employed like myself. The quality of care from everyone, was fantastic, especially the nursing staff who were just brilliant. My Wife was allowed to stay with me, which helped keep me calm. The surgeon was helpful, happy to talk the operation through with me, and didn;t talk down to me or dismiss my concerns. The anaesthetist was a pleasure to deal with, taking on-board my concerns about the procedure and reassuring me. I was discharged by 3:30 in the afternoon and have been making a swift recovery.

I can't stress enough how great the nursing staff were. Nothing was too much trouble. They were just fantastic.

What could be improved

The beds in day surgery aren't really beds, they're trolleys and as such get a bit uncomfortable. But, to be honest, that's all I can find to complain about, and that's not a lot.

Anything else?

Parking for day surgery is a pain. Bearing in mind you're going out the same day you've had surgery, it would be a good idea to be able to get a car close to the hospital to help get you home. As it is, my nurse swiped my wife into the staff car park to make the walk as short as possible (see what I mean about the nursing staff?) but this is going to depend on the nurse you get (and whether they drive...)
