I was having a nosebleed that was not stopping which resulted in a 999 call for medical help. The paramedics arrived whilst I was still on the phone to the 999 operator.
The paramedics checked my blood pressure, oxygen levels in my blood and check my notes to get all the facts re the cause of the nose bleed. I believe it was due to the warfarin I’m taking.
After pinching the top of nose to try and stop the bleeding, when this did not work they recommended a small bag of frozen peas to be put on my forehead. My wife got the peas, the bleeding eased off after a while but did not stop for an hour and a half.
The paramedics were absolutely brilliant. They stayed with me until the bleeding had stopped just in case it did not stop and they needed to get me to hospital for further treatment. They kept up a steady stream of banter to stop my wife and I worrying and keep us light hearted. They were lovely.
"paramedics were lovely"
