"A and E lack a triage system"

About: York Hospital

Attended A and E after 14 year old son broke his collar bone playing rugby. We waited for over an hour before he was even spoken to by clinical staff of any kind. We were told they did not operate a triage system! Given that it then took intravenous morphine and admission to get the pain under control I have to say I feel the approach was negligent - especially as medics explained for a while that he may also have a punctured lung due to pain levels. Quite frankly, had this been the case he would probably have died in the waiting room. Suggest York Hospital should operate a triage system as they do at Harrogate.
