"Problems with hospital transport at the Royal London"

About: The Royal London Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I have recently had a very painful hip replacement; as a result I require transport to and from the Royal London Hospital.

I arranged transport to pick me up in the specialised ambulance vans from my home, for my appointment which was at 11.00am at the Orthopaedic department

Transport came to my home at approximately 8.45am, which was way too early as my appointment was at 11.00am. Having had a hip replacement in January, I have been in a lot of pain and find being mobile very difficult. I though the transport team would help me, how wrong I was.

I told the Transport team if they could please come back later, to which they agreed to, but they never came back, I waited and waited at home up until 11.10am, from my home I phoned the transport department at the Royal London Hospital to find out what happened to the transport team and asked if they were coming to pick me up. To my shock they told me that they would not be coming back to my home to pick me up.

I feel very upset, I feel I have been let down by the hospital and the transport team on this occasion.

To further add insult to injury, I tried to arrange another future appointment time for myself, by calling the Royal London Hospital switchboard but found that I had to wait for 20 minutes on the phone, which adds to my phone bill, when I did manage to finally get through to someone I was constantly being transferred to the wrong department, I still have to rearrange for another appointment to see the Orthopaedic Department.

The Royal London Hospital, the Royal London Transport team and the phone operators have let me down; I kindly demand an apology for the tension and stress this has caused me.
