What I liked
A&E staff tried very hard to help, very nervous when in hospital.
What could be improved
After A&E sorted me out, I was sent to MAU, my same sex partner followed, but was not allowed on the ward. Yet we saw other "opp sex couples" following each other in ? After I waited for 30 mins for the doctor to visit, my partner was allowed to visit for a short time. The ward was very dirty, and the staff what little of them, seamed very busy. It told for ever to get the attention of a staff member, even for basic needs. I was told I had to undress straight away, and could only wear a gown. The gown does not cover you, and it's a mixed sex ward. I asked to be allowed to wear my joggers, but was told no, even asked to be able to wear underwear, under the gown, still NO.
Anything else?
I had a turn for the worse, yet my partner was not called or informed. We even had an Advanced Directive in place. It was only the next day was HE informed. It came to light he had called the unit to check on me, and was told only next of kin could be informed. We have a legal CIVIL PARTNERSHIP, yet the unit did not care
