"Scared at giving birth again at North Middlesex..."

I have given birth twice at North Middlesex Hospital and both times were unpleasant experiences. The hospital was chosen purely for being close to home and convenience. My last delivery in 2013 was scary, the midwife looking after me during labour kept telling me off for buzzing for help when I needed pain relief during labour and completely ignoring my wishes in my birthing plan. I asked for an epidural at one point, when it took the midwife so long to get me the gas and air and I was told that I couldn't have an epidural as "the anaesthesiologist was busy in theatre saving mothers' and babies' lives". The midwife even had the audacity to attempt to cut the cord when my husband explicitly kept reminding the midwife during delivery. The midwife even told me off for the choice for 1st baby clothes as the midwife couldn't button it well. It was horrific to the point that even a brand spanking new building with all the best equipment would not draw me in for my next pregnancy - I rather travel further and hopefully be treated like a hums being. Even the discharge by the midwife in the ward was hilarious. We had all our curtains open out of the blue (whilst I was Breastfeeding in private) and were discharged in BULK. This happened even though some of us had particular needs with either our babies or ourselves that needed discussing in private. It was DISGUSTING. No skin to skin support or Breastfeeding support whatsoever. The Hospital needs an urgent overhaul of the midwifery staff and let some people go, especially those who are there just for a wage and have NO CARE for others. The building itself cannot do wonders on its own. People want a humanistic touch, something some of your midwives lack of. This is the utmost most important part of care. Listen to your patients/clients needs and you cannot go wrong. By the way I just booked my next pregnancy with Whittington. I was tempted to go to North Mid but a quick recall of my pregnancy experiences put a stop to that. Better safe than sorry.
