"Day surgery on F63"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

My daughter was admitted for day surgery to her ear - she had just turned 16 in June and was very apprehensive. At the outpatient department the consultant talked to her gently as a responsible person and explained everything in detail. The final outcome of the operation is for her hearing to be improved- the consultant has not promised any miracle but was confident he would try his best to get a good outcome. The ward staff made my daughter and my family very welcome and supported us through out the day - the recovery staff were extremely gentle with a good attitude. We have had our first follow up outpatient appointment and the nurse and consultant again explained everything and made us feel supported and cared for. We do not as yet know if the operation has been a success however my daughter is pleased she has given it a try.
