"Required but not what the health service was built..."

About: Torbay Hospital

I was depressed with my life. My teeth were one of the things that I personally neglected. I plucked up the courage to visit my dentist and because they didn't have the means of knocking me out whilst having a lot of my teeth taken out they put me forward for NHS treatment which although embarrassing they treated me with utter respect. I was fortunate enough to be amongst staff when someone came round to inspect that department, I had nothing but praise to report. Apart from a student who continuously shook her head every time the initial consultant had a reason to castigate me I cannot fault my treatment or time awaiting surgery. From the moment I arrived the staff were friendly, understanding and never made me feel like I was wasting their time. From the informal taking all your details down, to the surgeon and anaethestic involved they all made me comfortable and seeing the end picture. I only gave my opinions up until I went into surgery. But the aftercare was brilliant. I never expected one-to-one care in the recovery room, but fortunately I was fully aware of my situation and all I can say is that the staff truly looked after me as well as the other patients in the room. Jeremy Hunt has talked about NHS care and the costs. If I'm honest I would say what I had done was cosmetic. I would have paid for it because I didn't want to be a toothless mum. (the minimal cost can be taken out weekly either through taxes, benefits, every pound has to be beneficial). The NHS should be about saving people's lives or making their lives more bearable. I have had treatment in the past which was about saving my life and I am grateful that Britain has such a great tradition in caring for the health of its people. What I really want to say is thank you to all the staff at Surgery Admission, 7th floor Torbay Hospital 2014 for not making me feel like a waste of time.
