"No bed guard rails causing bed falls"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (London)

Wife fell out of bed twice and chair once on Ward. Badly bruised face and shoulders, broken skin on forehead first time, just missed eye second time. Refused on first occasion to do head scan to check, done without asking second time. Second time left on mattress on floor for four hours for Doctor to check (Saturday). Walls in room already damaged causing infection risk, yet painted next day after second fall and photo of wife made public. No response to Formal Complaint within stated time (25 working days) and still no apology. Still waiting!

Thank you for your comments and we are very sorry to learn of your wifes' experiences when she attended the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in April 2014. I note from your comments that a formal complaint has been made but you have not yet received a response. Our normal procedure, if an investigation into a complaint takes longer than 25days, is to make contact with the complainant and discuss the situation with them. I am very sorry if this has not happened and would ask you to contact our complaints team on 0208836 4540\4669 as soon as possible. Wendy Doyle, PALS & Complaints Team Manager Queen Elizabeth Hospital
