"Basic"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital

I was on holiday when I was admitted by ambulance in the middle of the night with acute abdominal pains. Ward C3 clinical admissions. The care was basic, they dished out drugs and lots of doctors looked at me. However they failed to diagnose anything and I ended up discharging myself. The main issue was at no point did anyone seem to know what would happen next and if they did they did not tell me. I got the overwhelming feeling that as long as there was a bed available I could stay but as I was from another Health Authority they were not going to spend any money on diagnosing or treating me. There was no attempt to provide appropriate food and what was provided made me worse, I was happy to discharge myself to come home to my own health authority and GP,

I am sorry to read about your experience. We always aim for a high standard of care for every patient, regardless of their 'home' health authority. Please contact the Patient and Customer Service department on PCS@stockport. nhs.uk if you would like to discuss further.
