"Daughter went to Wycombe with appendicitis, they..."

Daughter went to Wycombe with appendicitis, they gave her a bus ticket to Stoke Mandeville (1.5 hours). Experienced sister in car park threw a wobbly and called an ambulance. 1 hour!2 hours in A&E, surgeons sent her to Theatre immediately when finally seen and diagnosed.Appendicitis and ovarian cyst burst confirmed.Admitted to Ward 16b.Patients so cold due to low ceiling and new a/c unit over beds, they sat with blankets over head. Staff failed to call electricians.Overnight, dementia patient got in her bed, then sat in her chair and ate all her bikkies. Patient was nil by mouth and missed her surgery. Nurses did not respond to alarm calls.Came is next day and realised they had not given her post-med medication for pain.made a fuss. took an hour to talk to junior doctor, who plainly could not cope.Talked with doctor and pointed out that all three of us were medical specialists and daughter was better off nursed at home by professionals. One nurse was very lacking in real nursing skills; very hostile beforehand and all the other patients were in day room because they were so cold. New TV there, unusable as no aerial or power socket in room.Got her discharged and then after 2 (TWO) hours the take home pharmacy arrived, it was paracetamol! This is inappropriate for a post-op surgical patients who was non Tramadol at the time.Another wait and another junior doctor and the correct medication was obtained. I was absolutely disgusted at the state of the hospital services. It was a good hospital.Complained to PALS, letter from Director acknowledge all faults. However this did absolutely nothing for improving service.
