"ulcer under my big toe on my left foot for three..."

About: Lincoln County Hospital

I had an ulcer under my big toe on my left foot for the last three years. The ulcer would not heal due to the position of the ulcer. The podiatrist department at the Newland Health Centre in Lincoln decided to make an appointment for me at the Lincoln County Hospital. When I arrived at clinic one the diabetes foot clinic I told Dc. Sriraman Consultant Physician that I had the ulcer under my big toe for three years. Jean Bentley Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist and Dr. Sriraman decided the best way forward was to put my left leg into a total contact cast so there would be no pressure on my big toe allowing the ulcer to heal normally. Kim Shucksmith Diabetes Specialist Nurse looked at a slight change in my medication. Wendy Kendall, Orthopaedic Practitioner and her team in the plaster room told me my ulcer should heal in around 4 weeks. 4 weeks to the day the total contact cast came off for the final time. There is no doubt I would continue to have my ulcer for the rest of my life if it was not for the team work that were looking after me. I thanked all those involved and I trust you will also thank them again for me. Yours Sincerely,
