"Worst nurses I've ever experienced"

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

I was taken to Wythenshawe by ambulance from Manchester airport. I was 13 weeks pregnant and bled heavily though a 5 hour flight from Sharm El sheikh and was taken to the nearest a and e when we landed. When we arrived at reception in a and e the nurse laughed that we had come from sharm and said " I expected it to be diarrhea from there" not something I wanted to hear when I was having a miscarriage. Then I was taken to a bay (floor was dirty and bin was overflowing) and left in my bloody clothes for half an hour before anyone even spoke to me. After sitting for 5 hours soaked in blood I obviously needed a wash so asked if I could get a shower, was told they didn't have one so was given wet paper towels. The next 4 members of staff I saw either asked "are you pregnant" or "could you be pregnant" after I'd clearly told the nurse at reception I was 13 weeks pregnant and a scan showed the baby was in the right place! (Maybe she was too busy laughing at diarrhea than listening to me I don't know) Then I was left for a couple more hours before having bloods taken and being seen by 2 doctors (only nice staff I encountered my whole time at the hospital). Then began the 4 hour wait for blood tests that I was told over and over again would take "half an hour" to come back. I was so exhausted and after being awake for over 30 hours I just wanted to go home, I asked if the blood results could be sent to my local hospital and was told no. I asked to discharge myself and the nurse in the waiting room where I was waiting for the blood test results told me with a bad attitude to "go on then go home bye" . I then said I would prefer she didn't take the canular out of my arm with that attitude so that was left in for another hour. I finally left nearly 7 hours after I arrived with a letter from the nice doctor telling my local hospital to expect blood results, something the nurse told me couldn't be done. It was the worst experience of my life and was made 10 times worse by the terrible attitude of the nurses and the blatant disregard for my comfort or well being. I've never been so disgusted with the way I have been spoken to by staff at a hospital before and especially wouldn't expect it after what had happened. I feel sorry for anyone who has to be treated in a and e by those people.
