About: Southend Hospital

I was in a car Accident and suffered with whiplash, i was brought in by ambulance and was on a flat board and coller untill i was xrayed. i was on the board for 3 and half hours before being seen by a doctor or being xray. when the nurse came in and spoke to me about what had happened she was at the bottom of my feet so i couldnt see her as i was straped to the board. It took a while to be given pain relief, but when i was given pain relief the nurse gave it to me while i was flat i chock. i got upset and was told i would be given IV pain relief but that never happened!! Now the reason im not happy is because i work for southend hospital and i know how important it is to have good bed side manners and talk to the patients face to face

Many thanks for your feedback. I was truly sorry to learn of your accident and your subsequent experiences in the A&E department. This is not the type of experience we want any of our patients to have and I am sorry that this has happened to you. I will be passing your comments to the A&E team for them to discuss with their staff but if you would like us to look into this further, please contact our complaints team with your details and they would be happy to take this forward. They can be contacted on complaints@southend.nhs.uk

I hope you are recovering from your accident and I would like to wish you well.
