"Removed from my GP for no reason"

I have been the unfortunately victim of a policy decision locally (in England) whereby because I enjoy reasonable good health and thus do not need to attend a G.P. appointment very often the Local Health Authority (in its infinite wisdom) decided that I should be removed from the local G.P.’s list where I have been registered for the past 16 years or so without issue.

I was advised of this decision after the event and by way of a voice mail message left on my mobile telephone number, by the G. P. practice concerned (Whitehorse Medical Centre, London SE25). I immediately telephoned the same day to ask for an explanation. They admitted that an error seems to have been made in my case but advised that, in order to be re-instated as a patient there I apparently now need to take time out from my 'paid by the hour' temporary employment to attend a new patient registration interview (something I am not currently able or prepared to do).

They also said that I would need to formally be re-accepted as a patient (giving the impression that such re-registration would not be automatic even though the original error was clearly not of my own making!) and, in the interim, I would be unable to access G.P. consultation, prescriptions, treatment and any referrals there until I had complied and been duly acceptable.

This seems totally unreasonable and discriminatory in my opinion – I trust you agree. I have, of course, sent a very strongly-worded letter of complaint to the Local Health Authority concerned telling them they will be held liable if they simply don't re-instate me as a patient at that G.P. practice and I suffer harm or otherwise unnecessary discomfort or delay as a result of their decision not to do as I ask. I would also sue in those latter circumstances (for negligence and/or discrimination) such is my strength of feeling on the matter.
