"audiology assesment"

About: University Hospital Of Wales / Audiological Medicine

(as a carer),

Took my 89 year old father for an audiology assessment, he was treated with dignity and respect. Staff were very keen to help him improve his quality of life with new hearing aids and were sensitive to his needs. Dad wanted me there as he often doesn't hear what is said and misunderstands information. This was not necessary as staff ensured that he could hear and understand what was going on and did not address questions to me just because it's easier!

The whole experience was in stark contrast to my experience at rheumatologist outpatients the previous day, it's hard to believe that two clinics just alone the corridor from each other could be so different.

He will have two new hearing aids in six week with the loop system so that he can enjoy going to the theatre again.

Thank you for your kind comments on your fathers experience in the Audiology Clinic which I will pass onto the team there.

I have also seen your comments regarding your own expereince which sadly did not deliver the high standards your father experienced and will respond on that page.

Regards

Sheila
