"A horrible experience"

Unfortunately I was told I'd lost my baby in June, I miscarried in July but found out at the end if August that the miscarriage was incomplete, and told I needed an operation (ERPC). I have been trying to avoid this operation due to my extreme needle phobia but it was inevitable. I had a scan 28th Aug was told that a doc would talk to me. After waiting a while they told me to go home and the doc would phone me. I didn't get a call until 3:30pm the next day after me making 7 phone calls. 1st Sept I went for my pre-op which took 5hrs. I was told to attend gate 40 the next day at 12midday for my op. which I did having been nil by mouth since the night before. They left me (on the day surgery ward) until 10:30pm! Telling me to go home and come back the next day at 7am for my operation. I had missed my daughter coming home after her first day of high school for nothing. Managed a little bit to eat, I was very upset and drained. Then got 5hrs sleep. 2nd Sept I arrived back at the hospital at 6:30am. by 10am I hadn't been seen at all so I asked for it to be looking into, explaining that I was very upset and this miscarriage has been going on since June. I'd taken time off work to attend the hospital, had to change arrangements for me to be collected and was having to arrange child care for my 2 children. The nursing staff were lovely as were the receptionists, but that didn't change my situation and again I was told that a priority patient had taken my slot and i was sent home at 2:30pm again having been nil by mouth and upset for another day. I was told that I was deffinetely first on the surgery list for the following morning. so Sept 4th again I attended at 7am nil by mouth and I finally got my surgery at 8:30am and was home by lunch time. The whole thing was highly insensitive to my situation. It was heart breaking :( By the time i had my surgery i'd had hardly any food or sleep for the whole week. I'm a working mum of 2 and no consideration was give to my personal, medical or emotional needs. When the surgery was explained to me at the Early Pregnancy Unit, I was told that it was a 15 min procedure, it was totally routine and I would be home the same day. This was not what I experienced at all. The one saving grace was an anesthetist who worked around my needle phobia and agreed to put me under with gas. A dreadful situation made worse by the people who are supposed to be there to help me!
