"Well looked after, caring staff"

About: Wexham Park Hospital

After sustaining second degree burns across my palm and fingers in a cooking accident, I went to A&E on a Sunday night. I was out of sorts when I arrived and emotional. I was immediately assessed, the nurse was empathetic. She could see I was in immense pain and provided pain pills and ice before inquiring about the accident and assessing injuries. I was informed the number of patients waiting to be seen before me, directed to a more convenient section of the waiting area. When it was my turn to be seen, two lovely nurses worked in succession to assess the damage, answer my questions, explain the treatment, recovery and follow up care. They were sympathetic, acknowledged my pain, apologised for having to press and prod during assessment and explained what I could expect in terms of pain and how to manage it. We even shared a joke about refraining from any housework I did not enjoy during recovery. My visit was 2 hours in total. I am due to return on Tuesday for follow up. I am very impressed with the care I received and appreciative of the caring attention of the staff from reception to the nurses.
