About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

After having many bad experiences with a and e at Sunderland royal I was very reluctant to have my father taken here however I was extremely pleased to receive top quality care on this occasion for my father from the doctor and the staff nurse. My father was experiencing some very worrying symptoms after recent travel and surgery to repair hernias and they dealt with him very quickly, with a lot of respect and dignity (he's a very proud man and doesn't complain about anything so we knew there was something wrong). The doctor reassured us all and provided professional and timely care which was extremely informative and helpful and staff nurse ensured my father was comfortable and was very supportive. Both staff worked well together and communication was top notch! Also the ambulance guy who rode with us to a and e was amazing really helped to put my fathers (and mine) mind at rest. I can't thank these staff enough!! He is recovering well now and I'm so pleased to have got top quality care from these staff members they are the salt of the earth and there should be more like these in this type of job!

We are sorry you have previously not been satisfied with the care provided but was pleased to read that your experience this time was much improved and that your father was treated with care, compassion and dignity. This is certainly the experience that we aim to provide at all times. It was also good to read that you were both kept fully informed throughout his visit as we know how important this is for patients and their relatives and this alone, can make such a difference to patient experience. We hope your father is now recovering well. Thank you once again.
