"Poor hygeine at Broomfield Hospital"

I recently visited a family member who was due to go home the next day. During our visit a nurse was doing the the rounds of blood pressures temperatures etc. After doing this she came to the patient we were visiting to remove his hickman line, bandages and some plasters. We were surprised to find she did not wear gloves and came straight from her previous task without even washing her hands. We were using the antiseptic gel whenever we entered and re entered the ward and were surprised to find that this proceedure was not being used by staff on several occassions.
