"Cancelled appointment"

Today, after waiting 5 months for an ophthalmology appointment for my son, who was referred in April 2014, we were told to go home as the notes had not arrived and could not be found. This announcement came over 1 hour after our assigned appointment time. I am upset, disappointed, stressed but not surprised. I have had so many problems just trying to get him an appointment since his referral...firstly he wasn't even on the system, then it was the summer so there were less clinics and now his appointment has been cancelled. Not to mention that I arranged a babysitter for my other child and took the day off work to attend this appointment. What an absolute joke...two other mum's left in tears. A similar thing happened at Lister the previous week when I took my daughter...thankfully clinic was running but 1 hour behind as the records sent were late and muddled. The orthotics look very stressed on that day. I could go on but I think you have the main points. Now I have to wait for another appointment which I will be amazed if it turns up without me having to chase it.
