"Praise for haematology dept."

About: Arrowe Park Hospital

My father passed away in late June 2014, he had been diagnosed some four and half years previously with an advanced form of non Hodgkin's lymphoma. Dad was 81 when he died and was therefore obviously of a different generation, he had very high standards and was never afraid to voice his opinions. His high standards where continually met by the haematology department. He underwent countless blood transfusions and courses of chemotherapy, I accompanied him on a number of appointments and was impressed by the friendly efficient care of the department. Dad was continually kept informed of the progress of his illness and this I know empowered him and aided him in his dignified passing. Myself and the rest of the family feel he would not have received such outstanding comprehensive care elsewhere. NHS @ it's best, Thank you . Nigel Vickers

May we offer our condolences for your sad loss. Thank you very much for your kind comments. We are extremely grateful that you have taken the time to provide this feedback. We are extremely proud of the care provided to your father and the impact this had on you and your family during such an upsetting time. Our staff work hard to try to ensure that a patient’s experience whilst at the hospital is as pleasant and comfortable as possible, and they are always considerably heartened and motivated on learning how much their efforts have been appreciated. We have passed your kind sentiments to staff in our Haematology Department. If we can be of further assistance in any way, please do not hesitate to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on freephone 0800 432 0251, email wih-tr.pals@nhs.net or in writing to PALS, Arrowe Park Hospital, Arrowe Park Road, Upton, Wirral, CH49 5PE.
