after being diagnosed with myeloma in blackburn(where i live) i was referred for a clinical trial at blackpool vic. the whole diagnosis and thought of what was going to happen was very daunting. I cant praise this department highly enough, all thestaff are friendly, effiecient always have time for you no matter how busy it gets and nothing is too much trouble. I understand this dept has only been open 12-18 months but it really is a credit to the hospital, The atmosphere is far from doom and gloom, its cheerful, freindly and you quickly meet and make new friends of patients, funnily enough i quite look forward to going to see them all including the staff. finally taking nothing away room all the other nurses a special mention has to go to one, male nurse if he's not collecting bloods or treatments he's making sure everyone has a brew and biscuit and a friendly chat,he's always smiling i never seen him not and he really does cheer you up even before you speak to him. you are all a credit to the hospital and the nhs thankyou all for making such a traumatic event in my life manageable . p.s also like to thank my cancer research nurse and my keyworker for their reassurance and explaining everything to me and popping in to see me when they can.
