I went to the A&E department in August with a problem with my eye.
I explained that I thought I had scratched my eyeball to the nurse who wrote these details down.
When I saw the doctor he diagnosed me with conjunctivitis which he prescribed some drops for. I took these for 3 days before going back to A&E on 29 Aug with more pain in my eye than ever before. I saw the nurse within 5 minutes of arrival who said she would get a doctor to see me, but I would probably need to go to the eye clinic.
2 hours later I saw a doctor who told me he thought there was a scratch on my eyeball! However I would need to see the eye clinic. The doctor there then agreed with this and gave me two lots of drops to take which I paid my £16 for (on top of the £8 on Monday which was for a prescription I didn't need).
I was told by the doctor I would need to see a specialist on Sunday and the hospital would be in contact. I'm still waiting. However the prescription this time seems to have worked albeit 4 days later.
I have had to take 4 days off work because of this due to the fact that I have to travel. The service has left me dismayed at the NHS.
