My cousin was discharged GE last week, when I phoned her husband today he was in a terrible state, her body was full of fluid and has been apparently since she came home, the hospital were draining it during her stay, when they finally let her out of bed after nearly two weeks she had to use a zimmer frame to help her mobilise to the loo etc, but a/e himself, needless to say she has now been admitted again. whilst they were examining her, her husband saw to his horror that she still had the bag attached to drain the fluid, it wasn't working, but more to the point no one had told him that the bag was still in situ.
I find this is absolutely disgraceful that someone could be discharged from hospital whilst they are still full of fluid that shouldn't be there with a catheter still in place, with no one checking how she could manage at home or her poor husband could help her. This is disgusting.
