"Concern over a vulnerable older patient"

I have had concerns about the quality of treatment in respect of a vulnerable older patient who had been into this hospital several times without diagnosis being reached.

On the last occasion I could not contact the head of cardiology, or the Medical Director, and spoke with the Chief Executive's PA about my concerns, indicating that my call should be considered as part of an audit trail and reminding her that the Trust had a legal duty of care for their employees and that employees, as professional registrants, were equally liable for the quality of patient care.

This appeared to have some effect and the PA was very helpful. So thanks are due to this person.
