"Dads could be involved more during labour"

About: St James's University Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I was induced on Sunday morning and unfortunately my labour ended on Tuesday morning with an emergency c section. All the staff were amazing and looked after us fantastically. The care was brilliant, explanations of what was happening thorough putting us at ease at all times. There are 2 aspects that I

Found disappointing. In my opinion the food was disgraceful- I would not have fed it to dog! And the care of my husband, my baby's daddy. I'm aware it's me in labour but it's a very emotional time got him too- and traumatic when it ended in emcs. I had an epidural at 8pm and it was clear things round be slow. There was no where comfy for my husband to sit or rest, a hard wooded chair! We were in that room for 12 hours all night and he's been with me on the ward for 12 hours already. The midwife found him a small beanbag but at 6ft2 this wasn't too helpful.

I feel sad that the process of labour and delivery does not care for the dads more. This is the 21st century they should be able to feel involved and made comfortable.
