"successful operation but no communication with surgeon"

About: Wrightington Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I am now 6 months post a total hop replacement at Wrightington..

After a few months of pain and discomfort my replacement has now settled down and I am completely happy with the outcome and my treatment, the staff were excellent and professional.

My only issue is that I never saw or had any communication with my consultant surgeon, either pre or post operation.

I shall not name the surgeon, as my operation was a success..But I am still mystified at the lack of patient/surgeon communication. Possibly it was the result of my op being scheduled for a Friday? ...any explanation from the hospital management team regarding this issue would be gratefully accepted.

Please understand this is not intended as a criticism of the hospital itself.

Thank you for your posting, it was pleasing to note your positive feedback regarding your successful operation and the excellent and professional staff. We were, however, sorry to learn of the lack of communication both pre operative and post operatively from your Consultant. The Division of Specialist Services have advised that if you would like to contact the Patient Relations Department with further details then the Clinical Director would be happy to feedback to the Consultant involved the importance of good communication.
