"A and E admittace 82 Year old father"

About: University Hospital Of North Durham

My Dad was taken to A and E after collapsing due to a heart/breathing problem. He was treat very well and the staff were friendly. He was moved to Ward 3 and then to ward 6. All great and friendly with regular updates, He was then moved to ward 11. Dirty with unhelpful staff with no communication or organization. At one point they didn't know if he was in an ambulance coming home or had been given a lift?? I personally had just had surgery at wanted reassurance as to the welfare of my father so I rang ward 11. The response was " You can speak to him but make it quick" in an appalling abrupt manner. I would not employ people with such attitude in this environment. Manners cost nothing. There is something wrong within this hospital and I am amazed to read some of the other negative comments.Management really need to take control and make some changes.
