"our experience in A&E was awful but the ward was..."

About: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (King's Lynn)

Whilst we were on holiday dad collapsed and was admitted to A&E. There was a long wait to see a doctor. During his admission we made everyone aware that we were visitors to the area and were not local: no-one took our contact details before we left the hospital late at night to travel over an hour on unfamiliar roads to our holiday let. Communication between staff and ourselves was poor which led to stressful misunderstandings. My dad was left unsupervised in the toilet despite staff knowing he was at risk of falls. Patients subjected to high noice levels at night who then can't sleep. Little assistance during meal times for those unable to feed themselves easily. Patients recieve little privacy and therefore confidentiality suffers.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback your concerns. I am sorry that you had such a poor experience when attending this hospital. I appreciate that it must have been very difficult having to deal with an unexpected emergency in an unfamiliar place. It is disappointing that many of the problems you encountered arose from basic aspects of care. I apologise for the shortcomings you experienced but I would welcome the opportunity to either speak to you in person or communicate via email so that I can feedback the details to the nurses in charge of the areas concerned so that they can be addressed.
