"Very bad advice and treatment on multiple..."

About: Chelsea & Westminster Hospital

This review is based on 3 distinct visits I made to the NHS in the past few years. Wrong drops in my right eye (instead of an anesthetic) caused intense discomfort and light sensitivity for an entire day. The doctor that attended me and spotted the mistake (overly dilated pupil) tried to blame it on me for not letting him know a nurse had used drops already ... and quickly backed up when I strongly pushed back. Wrong advice was given to me by a doctor who strongly suggested an operation for a small skin infection. Antibiotics prescribed by a private doctor (I had to pay for myself) proved largely sufficient ... Impossible to get decent advice let alone treatment for a bad leg injury. My wife badly fell during a team event. As she could not walk anymore once back home, I called the emergency services who apparently were too busy and told me to call 111 who advised us to go to A&E. After several hours we finally could talk to a doctor who left it to us to decide whether we wanted an Xray or not (and another 2 hours of waiting time at 2am). The doctor then advised us to go home with paracetamol and come back after 2 days if my wife's condition would not improve. In fact her condition deteriorated ... another round of 111 and we were back to A&E. After insisting to be seen in priority (due to the pain and the fact we had been there already) we were told that we were not a priority at all and would have to wait a least 2-3 hours before we could see another doctor who maybe could suggest and Xray some time during the day ... the arrogance (borderline aggressive behavior) of the nurse who attended my very distressed wife was frankly speaking beyond belief. We decided to leave and tried our luck with a different hospital ... Maybe bad luck but after all these unfortunate happenings, I have to say that the mixture of incompetence and arrogance that characterizes the NHS Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is disturbing and upsetting … to say the least.
