"Seen very quickly at Chippenham Minor Injuries Unit"

About: Chippenham Community Hospital

(as the patient),

Early one Sunday morning my daughter was playing around and managed to whack me in the eye with her hand. I knew immediately something didn't feel right. I wasn't in pain as such, just discomfort. So my partner drove me to Chippenham Minor Injuries Unit to see what the damage was.

This was my first visit after moving here from Hertfordshire nearly 2 years ago. Having sat in many an A&E over the years I was surprised to be seen within 20 minutes of arrival. The staff were all very friendly. I answered some questions before being treated. I had a scratch on my eye and was given some ointment to put in my eye to prevent infection. And that was that, home within the hour.

I think that access to such a service is fantastic. I am lucky that this happened first thing in the morning as the unit is only open until 1pm daily which is a shame really as the nearest hospital is a nightmare to get to, especially in rush hour.

I only have one critisism; I noticed when I left the treatment room that there was what I think was blood on the floor, although it could have been rust from the bin so my apologies if this was the case. The rest of the hospital that I was in was very clean and tidy.
