"Treated quickly and with respect"

About: Bedford Hospital South Wing

I arrived at AAU in the morning after 9am gave them my letter from the dr. As dr had told me to go to AAU. All they said was we dont have a bed you will have to go to A & E. I said could you tell me were that is as I dont know. She frog marched me to a point and said go down that long corridor and turn. I was exhausted can walk very far as have a serious heart condition waiting for a heart op date at the moment. Got to A & E I was struggling to breath properly needed to sit done and get my breathing back to normal. Which takes about 5 mins. They sat me down and nurse said she will speak to a few people about my letter.Within about 30 mins a nurse came and took me into a spare room. Started to do some tests within about 40 very friendly and efficent. Someone had said the AAU dr is here to see me. After my tests a junior dr did a few checks and said that he is under a senior Dr. Who he will ref to about me. He spoke to him they both came back together. Found out he was a heart surgeon which made me feel a lot better. As my health condition is serious I need a heart op waiting for a date at the moment.. He discussed my tests and results and they did a final blood test to check if I have any infections on my heart. I waited about an hour the surgeon came and spoke to me about the results. He also re assured me about my coming operation. Which made me feel some what better. As this operation is massive and life threatening. I appreciate how quickly and respectful I was treated during this very worrying and stressful time.
