"Lack of privacy during mammogram at North Hampshire Hospital"

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital

(as the patient),

In January 2005, I had to attend the Breast Unit at North Hampshire Hospital for mammograms. Despite a large sign on the door to the mammogram room clearly saying to knock before entering, one particular radiographer kept barging in without knocking. I found this very upsetting.

What I also found upsetting was that, although I was asked to report to 'reception', there was no-one there to report to. On one ocasion, I waited several minutes before I was attended to, despite the fact that there were eight people in the room marked 'reception' - all doing their best to look the other way.

I have not complained to the hospital as they will, no doubt, make out that I am at fault for expecting privacy and a manned reception.
