I was supposed to have an appointment with my consultant on 14th August in outpatients 4 to discuss my recent operation for cancer and its current state. Upon arrival I was told that the appointment had been cancelled. I did not receive a letter or text message about this (despite my contacting the consultants secretary directly to inform them of an address change 4 weeks prior to my appointment). I was then told I had to wait further 2 months for another appointment to find out if the cancer has come back or not. That's another 2 months of anguish and uncertainty on top of the 6 months I have already had to endure. I am by no means unique in as far as this goes but am left feeling that it is merely a cold I am waiting on results for, not for something as serious as cancer. My scan and blood test I had for my original appointment will be 4 months old before I get to see a consultant. Will these still be relevant for my next appointment or will I have to go for other's? I cannot believe that people with potentially life threatening illnesses and diseases are kept waiting like this. This has done nothing to help me feel one bit positive or confident about my current situation not to mention how it has left my partner and close family members feeling.
"2 month wait!!!!"
