I was admitted yesterday for a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy at the Boothroyd Centre in the Dewsbury Distric Hospital. At the beginning, I was very scared as this was the first time I went through an operation under general anesthesia. However, the care I received from all staff was excellent and made me feel very comfortable and safe. I was asked to be there at 7.15am and was initially greeted by the nurse. Although the centre was clearly very busy with several patients, she was always very caring and gentle. All my medical history was discussed in privacy with the surgeon. We went to a separated room where he clearly explained all the procedure and outcomes. All other nurses were very friendly and cheerful. I am specially grateful for the kindness and care of the anesthetist. She made me feel secure and all my fears disappeared as I knew I was in capable hands. My surgery started at 10:30am and I was back home at 5pm. Overall, a pleasant experience. Many thanks to all staff that took care of me yesterday!
