"Diabetic nurses are really good"

About: King's College Hospital (Denmark Hill) / Diabetic medicine

(as the patient),

I like the new electronic system, good to know when to go for the initial blood checking etc, but does not get round the wait still to see the dr. Though on this occasion my name went off the board completely so I might need to go and check with the receptionist to check.

There is not much communication between clinic visits. Its frustrating that when I see Dr GP they tell me that there is a delay in the clinic letters getting to them so that when I went to the GP for check ups they have not had letter.

The Diabetic nurses are really good, they are the ones to email if you have a problem. I have done that in the past and had a quick response. I don’t see the DRs as often, in fact I can’t remember when I last saw a DR to sit down with me. Not that this matters much because nurses so involved and I know that they would be involved if necessary.

It has not been that long since I had my diagnosis and in beginning got loads of information. I have a science background so I had lots of curiosity about the condition. I found the Diabetes UK website really useful, it would have been good if someone had signposted me to that website early on.

Overall the care here is very good.

That's excellent feedback about letters. We are working towards having a 'patient portal' so that you can access your letters online and you can give access to your GP if you wish to. Let me know if you'd like to be involved in the development of this.
