"All the front line staff"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

All the front line staff

What could be improved

Why oh why does Oldham still have mixed sex wards. My step mother of 82 spent 2 days in the Medical Assessment Unit watching naked old men walking around the wards. Mixed wards are unacceptable and outdated. You have the space, you have the beds you somehow lack the courage to place personal dignity high on your agenda.

Get your finger out Oldham Royal and make a difference.

Anything else?

We are currently reviewing mixed sex accommodation. Emergency areas such as medical assessment units (MAUs) are currently excluded (national guidance). However, it is expected of staff, where possible, to segregate the patients into single sex bays with separate toilet facilities. MAU will be reviewed to ensure that as far as possible and within the clinical needs of patients, privacy and dignity is maintained. We have every sympathy for both genders when privacy and dignity is compromised and the Trust will be making every effort to improve the patients' perception of mixed sex accommodation.
