"Short stay ward 15 in chaos"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

I was recently unfortunate enough to need to be admitted to ward 15. The department seemed in chaos. Some nurses only interested in getting the job done..not necessarily with care. One nurse pushed an intravenous antibiotic so hard into my vein it collapsed...she turned to me and said..'what shall i do now' this did not fill me with great hope. I was extremely ill and could not help myself...many nurses despite being able to do cannulas did not as it was not their job and this lead to waiting hours for 'hospital aces' being deployed often many hours in between. I would hate to be on this ward again..it felt like chaos

Hi Chrissy We’re really sorry your experience of ward 15 wasn’t very positive. Clearly it is important for our staff to get the job done, but it is just as important to us to do this with the best possible care. Unfortunately this doesn’t seem to have been the case during your visit. If you would like to discuss your concerns with the lead nurse or matron for ward 15, please email communications@uhl-tr.nhs.uk with your name, address, date of birth and the name of your consultant, if you know it. Sincerely Communications Team Leicester’s Hospitals
