"I felt safer at home than at hospital"

About: Barnet Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

Gave birth to my third son at 7. 01pm, my husband was not given the option to hold his new son and told he had to leave by 7. 30pm. I needed stitches but as it was a shift change over this could not be done straight away.. instead I was told to stay where I was on my own on the bed id just given birth in all the mess until a new midwife came back and done my stitches at 9pm! ! !

Was not allowed a shower and transferred straight to victoria ward where I was told to go to sleep and shower in the morning. Next morning when the midwife/nurse done her rounds when she realised I was bottle feeding she replied oh you don't matter and turned her back on me. My notes were never transferred from labour ward so I was not discharged until late afternoon when they eventually found my notes. At home it was becoming more painful to urinate and felt like something was hanging out.. very scary. My husband passed a mirror and I found a wad of gauze stuck inside me from the stitches the night before. Absolutely disgusting that it had been left there and how dangerous it could have been if I had not found it. I told the community midwife when she visited and she said she would speak to the sister on ward but that was all I ever heard.

I'm currently due my 4th baby in feb 2015 & am refusing a hospital birth as my last was so horrendous. I feel safer at home than being put at risk by slack procedures in hospital.
