"Dehydration"

I had been flat out for 6 days. I arrived home early on Tuesday morning and went straight out again without stopping for a drink. I had had alcohol the previous evening and only had one cup of coffee and one cup of tea the following day which I spent with my daughter and grandchildren on the beach. It had been a hot day.

I arrived home and my heart started to pound. By chance I had to speak to a retired nursing friend and asked her if I should worry. She told me to ring the doctor. I was asked various questions and it was decided to send a paramedic. Within 20 minutes he arrived and he 'plugged' me in to his machine, saw the results and immediately said he was calling for an ambulance which arrived within 20 minutes. I was carted out to the ambulance where I was linked up to machines again and taken to Derriford. By this time, I was feeling quite limp and tired.

I arrived at Derriford and was not left until the A+E staff came to collect me. More questions were asked and I was put on a drip and monitored constantly until halfway through the second pouch of drip, my heart rate plummeted to a normal rate and I was subsequently discharged.

I was totally confident the whole time and the speed, efficiency and service was amazing
