With the current fashion of moaning about anything and everything regarding the NHS, I would like to take this opportunity of saying how forward thinking the managment of the hospital are, in issuing free parking permits to cancer patients, and I believe that they are going to issue permits to family members. Being in a situation, where my partner is being treated for cancer at the hospital, and I am being treated at Derriford, the procedure is so different. As soon as you are diagnosed at Torbay, patients are issued with a permit, as part of the ''starter'' pack. People may not think that parking is a major factor, after being told they have cancer, but in the long term, it is just another small worry box that you do not have to be concerned about. Perhaps it would be possible for this Trust to inform the other 4 Trust's in Devon & Cornwall how to be so open and informative on this subject matter.
