"Last year my sister was admitted ..."

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital

(as a relative),

What could be improved

Last year my sister was admitted into the Stoke Mandeville hospital several times due to severe abdomnial pains and being pregnant naturally we were all extremely worried. Hoping for some light to be shed on the situation, she was rushed to Stoke Mandeville and on several occasions released. At first we were told that she had UTI and that antibiotics would clear up the problem, this was not the case, the second time we were told that she may have a appendicistus this AGAIN was not the case, we are now on to the third occasion and my sister by this point was doubled up in pain, with no idea what was causing her problem fearing for her baby's life, on the third occasion, we were told that she may have a cyst on her ovaries causing the extreme pain but AGAIN she was released. I was not until she collapsed outside her home that doctors finally began to take notice that something was seriously seriously wrong. thanks to the negligance of doctors not picking up that after 3 times in hospital with the same pain something was wrong, that i nearly lost my sister. she lost 5 and a half pints of blood and unfortunately lost her baby. it is because the doctors did not investigate the problem throughly that i could have been laying my sister to rest, i am appalled and believe that if more had been done to investigate the problem, my sister may not have had to go through the traumatic experience that she did. we were eventually told that her baby was growing in the wrong part of her uterus and that it had ruptured causing the sudden loss of blood. I am shocked!
