"Lack of help with tonsillectomy pain"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Visited A&E because I had unbearable pain following a tonsillectomy 5 days earlier. Saw a doctor who said everything look fine, however he would ask a colleague. I overheard him say that he'd never seen anyone post tonsillectomy before. He returned and said that this was normal and would pass in 2-5 days. I explained that the pain was getting worse and when it peaks I can't even swallow my own dribble. I'd had no post operation information about what to expect and would like to speak to an ENT doctor. He said you can't see an ENT doctor without an appointment raised by your GP. He then suggested I take my co codamol, then 2 hours later take soluble aspirin, followed 2 hours later with ibuprofen and repeat.

I have since read the label on these drugs and can't take asparin and ibuprofen together, which following some further reading is very dangerous since I've had surgery and these drugs can lead to bleeding.
