"My mother has been in Queens for ..."

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

(as a relative),

What I liked

My mother has been in Queens for the last two weeks and this is probably her 3 visit in the last 6 months. To be honest things have improved from when the hospital first opened but the main problem is trying to get information , when I visit there is never anybody around to ask. If I phone all I am told is that she is fine and no more because of patient confidentiality. It's difficult to visit often when you live so far away and timing is probably when the people who have the answers I need have all left for the day. Quite often when I call the phone ring's endlessly, so you have to be persistent to acutally get to speak to anyone.

the nurses are generally helpful but some of them have a very poor command of the english language and makes it very difficult to understand why they say. My mum has trouble understanding some things relayed in english so with a foregin accent it must be almost impossible for her.

On one of her visits to hospital they sent her home the following day without noticing that she had an infection, Paramedics were called and her tempreture had gone through the roof and she did not recognise either my bother or myself.

The doctor's are mainly helpful when you can get hold of one to speak to but some of the younger ones can be quite rude

What could be improved

communication between doctors and rleatives
