"Wonderful Staff, Useless Administration"

About: Wexham Park Hospital

Wexham Park Hospital has in its midst a real gem that must be supported and preserved at all cost - its staff. The Doctors, Surgeons, Ward Sisters, Nurses, Porters, Consultants and Laboratory Technicians are professional, hard working, dedicated individuals, who regularly display a fine sense of humour. The Surgeon took decisive action to deal with the infection and the Staff's efforts enabled them to identify and treat my very rare infection in a timely, efficient fashion. They are the front window of the hospital and the initial impression of the hospital is derived from these very special people. They must be supported without fail. The big problem with the hospital is its pitiful administration and its inability to communicate. Doctors do not speak to doctors, departments do not speak to departments (if there are two departments involved in a patient's treatment), doctors do not speak to award sister/Nurses or other departments, doctors do not speak to patients and departments do not speak to wards. Staff can be perfect in a hospital, but if they are not backed up by decent bureaucracy and effective administration, all their efforts are wasted.

Response from Wexham Park Hospital

Dear Mr Fairman Thank you for leaving feedback on your recent experience with our ENT services. I am so pleased that you felt the staff really were professionals, hardworking and dedicated, who should be supported. I was disappointed to hear that you found communication lacking between teams, individuals and departments. We are working hard to ensure that the patient is at the centre and to reduce the experience for our patients you describe in your review. I am sorry this happened. I will pass your comments onto Mr Moorthy, ENT clinical lead and to Gerry Fogarty, Lead Nurse so they can share the areas to celebrate and to think about how to make improvements in communication. I wish you well with your continued recovery Kind Regards Claire Marshall Associate Director of Patient Experience and Public Involvement
