My Gastroscopy Endoscope Experience at King George Hospital I wanted to leave a review because I quite quite nervous before this procedure not knowing what to expect and had lots of questions. Firstly I want to say to anyone that is nervous or worried about this procedure that it is completely painless and a very easy procedure. The worst thing about it was the build up, just waiting for the appointment etc in the days before.. but the actual procedure itself is about as stressful as a basic dental examination. Nothing to be afraid of at all. The staff, nurses and Doctor performing the procedure were all excellent. The hospital very clean and I was seen fast. Total turnaround was 45 minutes. The procedure itself took just under 3 minutes. It was almost like as I was getting myself prepares to be uncomfortable it was over. The key is to just relax and breath normally. Everyone said that the stuff they spray down your throat tastes awful but its actually ok. Tastes a bit like Bananas with a slight ting of fish - not the most tasty solution but certainly ok.. the sort of stuff you get at the dentist. The nurses are very attentive, they explain everything and I was made to feel even more comfortable by other people coming out that have had it done who seemed completely fine. I didn't have any gas or sedation, just the throat spray which was enough. The key is to just relax and breath, its a really quick and easy and you are in very safe hands. For anyone that is worried about this, please don't worry because they are very gentle and its over before you even know it. Lovely people, great hospital and just a good all round experience.
