"The paramedics were absolutely brilliant, very calming and reassuring"

About: Dorset County Hospital / Accident and emergency South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a relative),

My Mother was experiencing breathing difficulties and has a link to a care line. We initially alerted the care line people who suggested in this case it would be quicker for us to call 999.

The paramedics, two ladies called Hannah and Eve, were absolutely brilliant, very calming and reassuring. They explained what they were doing, different tests they were conducting, kept us informed about the results and were lovely all the way to seeing my Mother admitted to Dorchester Hospital.

This was the first time in hospital, since she was 11, for my Mother – she is 97 now!

She was kept in hospital, where she was quite happy, for 6 days.

Hi Indigo889

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback - I hope your mother is feeling better.

It is very rewarding to hear how our staff are continuing to provide excellent care to patients, and reassurance to families, when they need it most.

We can share your kind words with Hannah and Eve, but to do this we will need a little more specific information from you. If you would like us to do this, please could I ask you to contact me on either 01392 261 552 or sara.coburn@swast.nhs.uk at your convenience.

Thank you, again, for sharing your story.

Sara

Thank you for taking the time to write such lovely feedback on your mothers care, I will make sure the Emergency Department team hear how much you appreciated the care and treatment you received at our Hospital. It must have been frightening for your mother and you especially as she hadn’t been near a hospital for 86 years. I hope she is recovering well. Best wishes, Alison Tong, Director of Nursing, Dorset County Hospital
