"The fact that I was really listened to was really important to me"

About: Montagu Hospital / Pain Management

(as the patient),

I was suffering terrible pain in my back and legs – I could hardly walk, putting one foot in front of the other resulted in excruciating pain. Dr Vommer listened to me intently and prescribed Pregabalin tablets that work on the nerve pain (I was already taking Morphine for the physical pain).

The fact that I was really listened to was really important to me, not to be brushed aside and told there was nothing they could do. The tablets have helped somewhat, I can no walk a short distance with the aid of my walking stick even though I’m still in pain its bearable. This means I can walk around a shop – I can pick my own greetings card instead of having to ask people to get them – important to me for family celebrations and birthdays.
